Ive been to the doctor twice.  Ive gotten prescriptions filled for Allegra-D and at the next visit with a different Dr, I was given a prescription for Claritin-D.  I have resisted taking either one for fear of what they  will do to my blood sugar levels.
If you want to use a combination, rather than PRN sudafed, the most rational combination is Allegra-D in the AM, and Allegra in the P Claritin 12-hr D in the AM, and an antihistamine in the PM.  R.Motz It seems that I might not have clearly explained the issue.
From: "John Smith" johnSm...@hotmail.no.com Date: 05/04/2001 4:05 PM Pacific Do any of you have any experience with Allegra-D? Does it affect your blood glucose levels? What dosage do you use? My doctor prescribed it when I had some recent sinus problems.  Blood sugar wasn't affected, but my sleep was.  He told me it was the "D" in Allegra- D that kept me up all night and so I cut back to just one a day, taken in the morning.  YMMV:)
But has anyone else seen improper prescribing of Allegra-D or Claritin-D? Somehow I dont think a lot of doctors realize that the D in these products stands for decongestant, which means pseudoephedrine in this case, because I have seen a number of scripts written for these products although the patient had diabetes or hypertension.
